The state of California has always been known for having some top football talent, especially at the quarterback position, with numerous players who having gone on to the NFL from the west coast state.
The FBU All-American Bowl, which is loaded at the quarterback spot, recently added another quarterback from California to their 7th grade East squad roster with 2021 signal caller Chayden Peery. Peery comes from Valencia, California, and has been lighting up defenses on the west coast for the last two seasons.
Peery has been climbing his way up the national rankings, and it was a huge goal of his to get noticed and selected for this game.
“This is a huge honor because I was noticed and selected out of many youth football players across the country,” Peery said. “This game has been a goal of mine to achieve for the past few years and my motivation during tough workouts in the offseason. To finally achieve this goal is a blessing.”
Peery has really grinded it out in terms of getting his name out there in the national picture, trying to play the best competition possible in his area. In previous years, he was traveling a two hours round trip to compete in one of the most competitive leagues in the state when played for the Snoop Dogg Steelers. During this time period, he only lost one game from 2012 into this year.
This season, he stayed home for his first year of middle school football, and had a dominant year for the Baldwin Hills Bruins. He led the Bruins to an 8-1 record by throwing 25 touchdowns to only one interception in over 150 attempts.
Along with the tough league competition, Peery has worked his way around the camp scenes at an extensive rate. He has attended a UCLA high school camp, the Under the Radar Undisputed Quarterback Competition, and the Football Hotbed QB Middle School Showcase in Miami.
He was named the number one quarterback by QB Hit List, was named the MVP of the Cal State All-Star Game, and was named a Football Hotbed All-American.
When Peery makes the trip to San Antonio for the FBU All-American Bowl, he will have yet another chance to grind it out with other top quarterbacks and once again try and prove why he’s one of the best for the class of 2021. He’s showed out at everything he’s gone to, and he’s just looking forward to the next challenge.
“My goal in the All-American game is to have a good time, do well in the game, and enjoy the experience,” Peery said. “I’m looking forward to being challenged and playing the highest level in youth football, along with meeting new people and learning from everyone.”
