1942 - Emery Whilton's Florafaunium opens in Lebec [story]
Florafaunium

Six Santa Clarita Artists Association (SCAA) members have been accepted to the ‘Los Angeles-City of Angeles’ exhibition at La Galeria Gitana in San Fernando. Visitors are welcome to the opening reception to meet with the artists on December 17, from 6 to 9:30 p.m.

The Los Angeles-City of Angeles show will run from Dec. 17 thru Feb. 4, 2017. Artists expressed their interpretation of Los Angeles as a city of Angeles, featuring buildings, its people and multitude of activities.

SCAA members: Olga Kaczmar (photography), Norma Warden (photography), and Jerry Cowart (photography), Jeanne Iler (mixed media), Jane Mick (acrylic), and Idelle Tyzbir (watercolor).

"Angel of LA," by Jeane Ihler.

-Olga Kaczmar – “In 1975, young, cute and stupid…dressed in a mini skirt… I bee-lined to skid row to photograph the homeless. One black man warned me it was not safe for me to be there alone, and said, ‘leave this area before you get hurt;’ and escorted me to my car.” http://fineartamerica.com/profiles/olga-kaczmar.html

-Jerry Cowart – “My journey with photography is an ongoing and ever-evolving process. What I discovered is to enjoy the moment, to slow down each day, and to admire all the beauty around me – for in the blink of an eye it will be gone.” http://fineartamerica.com/profiles/jerry-cowart.html

-Norma Warden – “We each see things from our own unique perspectives. While painting / photographing the same scene, two artists will not create the same piece of art. Look for the uniqueness of the artist in every creation.” http://norma-warden.pixels.com/

-Jane Mick – “My paintings reflect silence, solitude, and emotion, through her perception of space and shadows. The surface of my paintings is as important as the image itself. The texture of the surface adds dimension to the painting and within the texture you find colors that may not seem to belong, but give interest to the painting.” JaneMick.com

-Jeane Ihler – “I was very inspired by this show’s topic City of Angels. First entry is an angel floating over the peninsula and beach cities.

-Idelle Tyzbir – “Congested freeways are an international icon that is connected to Los Angeles. This art piece, Watching Over Us, perfectly represents The City of Angeles. The beauty of the lights in the night sky and the need to return home safely to our families gives voice to this painting and our hope that we have divine intervention.” http://www.idelleart.com
