Apr 28, 2017: Denim & Blues at The MAIN

Apr 28, 2017 6:00 p.m.

In honor of Denim Day, rock out for a good cause at The Main on Friday, April 28, 2017 featuring the local blues band, Kelly’s Lot. Tickets are $20 each, and are available through the outreach center and at the door. Each ticket purchase comes with a free Kelly’s Lot CD! Please call 661-259-8175 for more information.

The Denim Day campaign began in 1998, triggered by an Italian court’s decision to overturn a rape conviction, citing that since the victim wore tight jeans, she must have helped her rapist remove them, which implied consent. In response, the women of the Italian Parliament came to work the following day wearing denim in solidarity with the victim. Peace Over Violence created the Denim Day campaign soon after, asking people to wear jeans in an effort to visibly boost rape prevention awareness and to dismantle destructive attitudes on sexual assault. See more on how you can get involved on the Denim Day website!
