Each spring, the School of Film/Video at CalArts plays host to the Bijou Festival and several showcase screenings to publicly present selected student works from all programs. Films and videos are shown at CalArts’ Bijou Theater.
Producers and other professionals in the film, television and animation industries regularly attend these events. The School also helps to arrange the presentation of selected student works at national and international venues, which, in recent years, have included the Sundance, New York, Berlin, Vienna, Venice and other major festivals, The Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Pompidou Center in Paris.

Film Festival event presented by Zonta Club of SCV and sponsored by Luna. LUNAFEST is a national film festival that features short films by, for and about women. LUNAFEST was established in 2000 by LUNA, the makers of the Whole Nutrition Bar for Women, to simultaneously promote women filmmakers, raise awareness for women’s issues and support worthy women’s nonprofit organizations. This traveling film festival spotlights the work of a diverse array of talented women filmmakers with intelligent, funny and thought-provoking themes. For more information, contact the Commission Secretary at (661) 286-4018. The five-member Arts Commission meets on the second Thursday of the month, at 6:30 p.m. in the City Council Chambers. Members of the public wishing to address the commission may do so by completing a speaker’s slip upon arrival at the meeting. There is a three minute time limit per person.
