Deputies Sean Robert Caples and Patrick James Ince have been selected to receive Valor Awards on Thursday for their acts of heroism.
“Deputy Caples and Deputy Ince will be recognized for rushing into a burning residence and guiding the victim out to safety seconds before the house erupted in flames on September 30, 2013,” according to a statement from the Sheriff’s Headquarters Bureau.
Caples and Ince are among 25 deputies and three private citizens across the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department to be singled out for the awards this year.
Sheriff John L. Scott will make the presentation Thursday at noon in Montebello. Former L.A. Dodgers Manager Tommy Lasorda will participate in the event.

Deputy Gomez and Deputy Perales will be recognized for pursuing an armed suspect despite being shot at with an assault rifle on January 8, 2013.
Deputy Jesus Fernandez
Deputy Javier Flores
Compton Station
Deputy Fernandez and Deputy Flores will be recognized for responding to a structure fire call and rescuing a woman who was trapped inside a burning garage on October 12, 2013.

The above personnel will be recognized for their collective efforts in the pursuit of an armed suspect who had taken a driver hostage on November 26, 2013.
Deputy Carlos Cueva
Century Station
Deputy Cueva will be recognized for while during a patrol check, he was shot at by a suspect. He pursued the suspect, ending the aggressive assault on April 9, 2013.

The above personnel will be recognized for their collective efforts when responding to an assault with a deadly weapon call. The suspect had shot a male and was using his infant son as a shield on January 26, 2014.

Deputy John Marquez will be recognized for engaging an armed suspect on two separate occasions after sustaining injuries during a gun battle on September 2, 2012.
Mr. John A. Marquez
Mr. Marquez will be recognized for rendering aid to a Pico Rivera Station deputy who was being assaulted on June 22, 2014.
Dr. Gale D. Smith
Dr. Smith will be recognized for rendering aid to a Lancaster Station deputy who was being attacked by a suspect on the side of a road on January 31, 2012.
Mr. Richard A. Frederick III
Mr. Frederick will be recognized for rendering aid to a Lakewood Station deputy at a mall who was being viciously attacked by a suspect on August 12, 2014.
