Deputies from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station issued 38 traffic citations Friday and arrested a Newhall man on a parole violation warrant on Saturday.

Here are the results of our motor deputies’ proactive enforcement on Friday. Three motor deputies issued a total of 38 citations!
37 citations were issued on city streets for unsafe speed, and 1 citation was issued to a motorist who almost hit a pedestrian who was crossing a crosswalk!
If you’re one of the motorists cited yesterday and you’re upset about it, just know that we would prefer to stop you, than have you stopped by a car crash!
On Saturday, the SCV Sheriff’s Narcotics Team hit multiple locations in Santa Clarita Valley looking for individuals wanted for felony warrants.
The warrants for these individuals ranged from vandalism, robbery, sex crimes, to assault with a deadly weapon.
Through their diligent work, the team successfully located one of the felons. Jose Corona, age 28, of Newhall was arrested on a parole violation warrant and transported to the SCV Sheriff’s Station.
Great job by the team in getting this felon off our streets!

Anyway they can stop/cite speeders, I’m all for it. These officers have a job to do. Speeding is a big problem out here. I don’t think 5 miles over the speed limit is their target. It’s the offensive 50-60 mile per hour speeders they want. Most streets out here is 45-50 posted. That’s fast enough. Freeway speeds don’t work out here. The multiple daily accidents proves we aren’t driving safely. We aren’t paying attention.
