On Saturday, September 17 Agua Dulce will host the annual country fair beginning at 4 p.m. and this year the theme is Hollywood’s Backlot.

If you know anything about Agua Dulce’s history, you know that this quiet little town is actually one of the oldest and most recognizable stars in film history. It has served as a fruitful film location for a hundred (or possibly more!) years.

From the iconic Vasquez Rocks to the rolling hills of the Sierra Pelona Mountains, Agua Dulce has become a celebrity in its own right. This theme is sure to bring some fun and creative entries to our parade, and even costumes at the fair! We encourage our parade entries (and our guests if they are up for it!) to go theme crazy.

The Agua Dulce Country Fair and Parade is a little slice of small-town heaven, having everything you’d expect at a small town fair (such as old tractors, pie, and games) and some things you wouldn’t (from getting arrested by the fair posse and tossed in the ‘ole Agua Dulce Jailhouse, to seeing a zebra or camel stroll by while wearing a hat!). It takes a lot of time and effort by our wonderful committee, made of dedicated community members (like you!) to put this on for the whole town to enjoy. The fair is located at the Agua Dulce Women’s Club right after the Parade.

Fair day begins with the charming Parade, which begins at 4 o’clock sharp. The parade route goes north on Agua Dulce Canyon road, beginning at the intersection with Davenport Road and ending at the intersection with Darling Road. There will be road closures the day of, so please see the Parade section for entry information and road closure information.

The Fair has come a long way over the many decades that it has been going on, and this year we have some awesome events for our guests to participate in. There are various games for children and adults, chili cook-off and salsa tasting, multiple food and drink vendors (after all, what is a fair without the food?), a beer booth for 21+ guests, and dozens of goods vendors, where you can get a little (or big) something for yourself, your home, or gifts for friends and family. Our vendors sell everything from honey and jam to jewelry, clothing, toys, and handmade goods. Typically credit cards are accepted by vendors, but it is always good to come with cash just in case.
