The Canyon Theatre Guild will hold auditions for its upcoming “Holipalooza 2018” stage production and fundraiser at the Guild on Tuesday and Wednesday, Sept. 4-5, with possible callbacks on Thursday, Sept. 6.
Holipalooza is a holiday youth fundraiser production that helps to raise funds for the Canyon Theatre Guild’s year-round youth workshops.
There is a single Holipalooza performance on Friday, Nov. 30. The evening includes a petite dinner, an auction and of course the show.
The show this year, “The Winter Writer,” is about a creative girl named Bridget who only writes during the winter.
One day, while traveling to a snowy forest, she finds herself in a winter wonderland, where she discovers all of her wintry tales are not just works of fiction…they’re real.
Woven throughout the story are classic Christmas and holidays songs, sure to put the audience into the spirit of the season.
The auditions are set for 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 4, 5 and possibly 6 at the Canyon Theatre Guild White Building, 24242 Main Street, Newhall 91321.
Producers are looking for cast members ages 7-17.
* Have 16 bars (about 30-40 seconds) of a song prepared to showcase the performer’s voice. Broadway, Disney, holiday or pop songs are welcomed. No a cappella auditions, please.
* Wear clothes appropriate for a light choreography audition.
* There will be a cold reading from the script.
* Have rehearsal conflicts considered to write down.
Upon casting, there will be a $50 materials-registration fee.
Rehearsals will typically be 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, beginning on Sept. 12.
