1940 - NYC premiere of "The Marines Fly High" starring Lucille Ball, filmed in Placerita Canyon [story] Marines Fly High

The Real Side | Commentary by Joe Messina

joemessinamugCPAC stands for the Conservative Political Action Committee. Big woop. What does that mean? Well, in looking at some of the posts on Facebook and other online services, I can see the left believes it’s a bunch of stuffy, old, white, grey-haired guys who think the only good minority is one working for minimum wage.

Where did that come from? Can’t be from actual fact. Because leadership in the Republican Party is as diverse, if not more so, than the Democrats leadership.

Look at the lineup. Gov. Bobby Jindal, U.S. Rep. Mia Love, Carly Fiorina, Sen. Tim Scott, and the list goes on. So how is it we let the Dems paint a picture of us as the modern-day KKK? Marketing. You can lie about anything as long as you market it to the right people the right way.

To be clear, the Dems voted against ending slavery, against giving women the right to vote, and they started the KKK with the express intent to scare blacks back into slavery or kill them off all together.

The Democrats have painted a picture that Republicans were responsible for all of this.

Like Brian Williams’ rescue from the downed chopper, it ain’t so.

President LBJ said he knew how to keep African Americans voting for Democrats for 100 years. He was right. Keep anyone dependent on the government for food, shelter, money and so on, and they will do anything you want them to do out of self-preservation.

Republicans have always fought for the rights of all people. All of the misdirection from the left can’t change that.

And let’s talk about this “war on women.”

Fact: Democrats historically pay their female staffers less than male staffers. The two so-called biggest Democrat Party champions of women’s equality (Pelosi and Clinton) both paid women 25 to 30 percent less than men. They could fix that with the stroke of a pen. But they don’t. That makes them hypocrites.

El Presidente says this is a travesty; that women should not have to fight for equal pay. Another hypocrite. Female White House staffers make on average 27 percent less than their male counterparts. He has a pen and a phone. What’s the problem?

President Obama could pen an executive order to fix this problem overnight or maybe have his DOJ stop chasing law-abiding citizens and nonprofits around and actually enforce the law that’s been on the books since 1963.

When it comes to welfare, Republicans don’t want unlimited, endless hand-outs, because we don’t want people dependent on the government from cradle to grave. There are people on welfare in some way, shape or form for 20 years or more. How do you strengthen a person’s self-esteem? Teach them to care for themselves. Teach them to feed their family. Most adults want to be independent. News flash: Living off of the government is not independence.

Instead of taxing our community colleges with illegal, undocumented, improperly registered humans in this country, how about we make room and retrain those millions of Americans who are out of work? Instead of simply giving them a check every week, let’s give them a check and a career. Let’s give them real self-esteem. Let’s help them realize the happiness that comes from pursuing it, not taking it from a handout.

Republicans have been saying Obamacare won’t work ever since it was introduced. Not because we hate those who can’t afford healthcare or who can’t take care of themselves, but because we knew we would waste millions of dollars, not get a better program, and more Americans would suffer. Guess what? We were right. There is only a tiny handful of people who got a better plan and saved money. The vast majority are paying more and getting less.

Republicans called it. You could have done better. Once again the Democrats have spit in the face of the American people. The people voted for real change in 2014. The Dems have doubled down on obstructionism.

In the meantime, CPAC will have young and old, white, black, Asian, Hispanic, men, women and even more diversity. They will bring a mix of ideas about how to make this country greater by giving people more opportunity to succeed and prosper, and not by getting more government handouts. The “old white guys” will be there encouraging the younger people to engage and get involved.

Conservatives are not the party for conservatives. And Republicans are not just for Republicans. When you put the two together, they are Americans for a stronger America, and that means all Americans.

Old White Joe: Plainly, you’re staring at a single tree rather than the forest in which you live:

From Gallup: PRINCETON, NJ — Non-Hispanic whites accounted for 89% of Republican self-identifiers nationwide in 2012, while accounting for 70% of independents and 60% of Democrats. Over one-fifth of Democrats (22%) were black, while 16% of independents were Hispanic.

These results are based on more than 338,000 interviews conducted as part of Gallup Daily tracking in 2012, and clearly underscore the distinct racial profiles of partisan groups in today’s political landscape.

As for the Obamacare note: Joe, please tell me of actual people you KNOW who are doing this medical suffering. Everyone I know, save for some doctors, have better coverage, less risk, and less stress over preconditions. It is working, and as you well know, rates are coming under better control. Don’t make things up just because your party says you’re supposed to.

  12. Thanks for being part of the bipartisan, media driven sh*t show that is American politics, Joe.

  13. Democrats can make up whatever they want because they know the bulk of their voters aren’t educated beyond the headlines. For example, they get away with “Republicans want to take your health insurance away” after they passed a bill that literally cancelled millions of plans and will continue to do so as the law continues to roll out. Shameless.
