The Santa Clarita Business Incubator is pleased to announce that tenant company Acqubit has graduated early. Just over two years into residency with the Business Incubator program, Acqubit secured its first contract with a private aerospace company and recently transitioned into a local operating space with an expanded footprint to accommodate future growth.
Acqubit, formerly known as 3D-SensIR, designs, builds and offers handheld smart 3D LIDAR camera systems that transform reality into photorealistic 3D models directly on-site. Throughout its tenancy, Acqubit has worked diligently to refine its product, and with the help of Business Incubator resources, develop a healthy and scalable business model. Having the ability to capture high resolution 3D data accurately and in real-time has the potential to revolutionize a variety of industries, including those focused on industrial and military applications.
In addition to this significant milestone, Acqubit was chosen to participate in the National Science Foundation (NSF) Innovation Corps (I-Corps™) program. This highly-selective, seven-week program prepares scientists and engineers to extend their focus beyond the laboratory and accelerates the economic and societal benefits of NSF-funded, basic-research projects that are ready to move toward commercialization. Acqubit’s participation in the I-Corps™ program will begin in February 2019.
The Santa Clarita Business Incubator, a partnership between the City of Santa Clarita, College of the Canyons and the Small Business Development Center (SBDC), is a three-year comprehensive program designed to help local entrepreneurs in the creative and technology industries groom their cutting-edge ideas and connect them to resources for their businesses to thrive.
