Valencia Acura co-owners Don and Cheri Fleming announced the arrival of Turbo Earl Fleming, a 14-week old Shih Tzu puppy adopted by the Flemings earlier this month.

The newest addition to the Fleming household was born March 17, 2019, just 11 days after the passing of Speed Bump “Bumper” Fleming, a Lhasa Apso who accompanied the Flemings to work every day for 12 years.

“It was all about the kisses,” said Cheri Fleming when describing the connection she and husband, Don, felt the day they found themselves at a breeder who was recommended by an acquaintance. “There were four male puppies playing with each other, but it was Turbo who came over and gave us ankle kisses alternating between the Don and I. If you believe in a dog’s journey that ‘some friendships transcend lifetimes,’ then this was surely a nudge from our beloved Bumper for Turbo to pick us.”

The cute-as-a-button addition joins Test Drive “Tessi” Fleming, an Imperial Shih Tzu, as official canine greeters of the Friendship dealership. Since opening the dealership in 1997, other canine greeters have included Scooter and Spark Plug, both Shih Tzus.

“Our dogs have joined us on life’s journey and will always be an important part of our story,” said the Flemings. “We honor them for all the joy they’ve sparked and love shared with us.”

“We invite everyone to stop by the dealership to meet our little guy,” said Don Fleming. “While Bumper was the sweetest dog with the biggest heart, there’s no doubt Turbo will follow in those same paw prints.”
