The crew of the TNT competition reality show “The Great Escape,” now filming at the Placerita Canyon Power Plant, is back at work after walking off the job Saturday.
Crew members walked the picket line outside the cogeneration facility on Placerita Canyon Road just west of Sierra Highway when negotiations broke down over a union organizing effort.
IATSE officials had accused the producers of obstructing attempts to organize and declared the production “off-limits for its members.”
“The hard working employees of ‘The Great Escape’ deserve the health, pension and safe working conditions that other workers in the entertainment industry have,” the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees said in a Saturday morning statement.
But by Saturday night, IATSE officials declared the “strike successful,” saying they had reached an agreement with the show’s producer, Profiles Television Productions LLC.
“I’m happy to see the crew of this high-octane show return to their equally fast-paced jobs with the security of health benefits and safer working conditions,” IATSE representative Vanessa Holtgrewe said in a statement.
Profiles Television Productions, based in El Segundo and headed by Bertram van Munster and Elise Doganieri, is the parent company of Earthview Inc. and World Race Productions, which produces the Emmy-winning CBS television series “The Amazing Race.”
“The Great Escape” is also produced by Ron Howard and Brian Grazer’s Imagine TV, Fox TV Studios, and creators Justin Hochberg and Charlie Ebersol. The show’s host is Rich Eisen.

I caught the story change from the use of the word members referring to those that walked off the job. Of course no election has taken place, so there are no ‘members’.
Leon, I’d be interested in what specific obstruction was taking place. I’m going to go out on a ledge and suggest that in fact this was an effort to intimidate the producers into recognizing “card check” as the sole voting method. Call me crazy for desiring more details but as written this article is allowing bias to invade what is probably a much bigger story.
Right, they wouldn’t be members if they hadn’t yet organized!
