The Wings for Life World Run has announced the North American locations for its 2016 global race, including the City of Santa Clarita. Of 34 locations worldwide, Santa Clarita will be the only West Coast city to host the global race on Sunday, May 8, 2016.
The Wings for Life World Run is one of the largest and most unique running events ever staged. Thousands of runners on six different continents will begin at exactly the same time on May 8. One hundred percent of all entry fees and donations go directly toward finding a cure for spinal cord injuries.

Santa Clarita joins a list of two other host cities in North America serving as hosts of the race, including Sunrise, Florida and Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada.
“Santa Clarita is excited to provide a world-class welcome for competitors of this sensational racing event,” said Mayor Marsha McLean. “I encourage the community to take part and support this inspiring and unique experience in our hometown.”
Unlike traditional races, the Wings for Life World Run has no set distance or finish line. Instead, competitors begin racing simultaneously and try to avoid being stopped by an advancing “catcher car.” The competition ends for a runner once the catcher car passes them.
Santa Clarita residents can receive the $30 registration by signing up by December 31, 2015 on WingsForLifeWorldRun.com.
