The Santa Clarita Valley Family YMCA is hosting an open house and is inviting the community to bring the family August 16.
The nonprofit will be holding the event at 26147 McBean Parkway in Valencia from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. to bring awareness about what the organization does for the community.
“A lot of people don’t know what the Y does for the community in terms of programs,” said Director of Member Services, Sharlene Duzick.
The event will have information booths for each of the departments that are offered to youth in the Santa Clarita Valley. There will also be a bounce house and face painting.
The event is also serving as the opening day for registration for the Adventure Guide program that focuses on helping families build relationships through planned activities.
“When people walk in to the YMCA they see it as just a gym and its actually much more than that,” said Duzick. “ We are a community center that serves as a hub for all kinds of activities.”
YMCA offers multiple before and after school enrichment programs, health and wellness programs, youth sports and a youth and government program.
“The event is going to provide more than just information,” said Duzick. “Kids will be able to interact and have a good time.”
