Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich, Chairman of the MTA, announced the official start of “Youth on the Move,” a Metro pass program which will provide emancipated youths throughout the Los Angeles County passes.

Initiated by Supervisor Antonovich, the one-year pilot program was unanimously approved by the Metro board last August.

“Each year in Los Angeles County, 1,800 young people from the ages of 18 to 21 are emancipated from foster care without a safety net,” said Antonovich.   “To be successful, they need access to affordable transportation to attend school, seek job training and commute from work to home.  This vital program will provide an affordable alternative for youths transitioning to productive adulthood.”
