[Pardee] – Pardee Homes issued a $3,000 grant Tuesday to Fair Oaks Community School to maintain and upgrade equipment used in the school’s television show beamed daily to classrooms.
Ralph Pistone, Vice President of Construction Operations for Pardee Homes, today presented a check from the Weyerhaeuser Giving Fund to Marie Stump, Fair Oaks Community School principal, and staff and students involved with the “Falcon Television Network.” Pardee Homes is a division of the Weyerhaeuser Company.
“Pardee Homes recognizes its role as a builder of master-planned communities includes supporting our local schools and improving the overall quality of life,” Pistone said. “Fair Oaks administrators and teachers have utilized technology – in this case, television – to inspire confidence and promote good character traits among all students.”
The grant will help maintain and upgrade the equipment used for the daily, 10-minute television show as well as enable students to “livestream” the show from the computer lab, classrooms or any location on campus. In operation for 11 years, the student-produced Falcon Television Network provides news, weather, entertainment and sports and, along the way, serves as vehicle to improve presentation skills and confidence as well as promote messages of good character.
“The Falcon Television Network crew, whether they are producing the show or simply enjoying the daily reports, learn valuable lessons about citizenship, community and responsibility,” Stump said. “We are very proud of our Falcon Television Network. This program has received numerous public recognitions and praise because of its unique and innovative approach to daily announcements. We are grateful for the Weyerhaeuser Giving Fund and Pardee Homes for their continued support and providing this valuable opportunity to our school.”
Pardee Homes, which built the school as part of its Fair Oaks Ranch master-planned community, has previously provided grants to purchase additional interactive whiteboards for classrooms and other new technologies that assist teachers at both Fair Oaks and nearby Golden Oak community schools. Last week, Pardee Homes issued a $3,000 Weyerhaeuser grant to Golden Valley High School to support its “Big History Project.”
