Steve Doyle, superintendent of Keppel Union School District for the past six years, has been hired as superintendent of the Castaic Union School District. He takes the helm Feb. 1.
Prior to his work as superintendent in Keppel Union School District, Doyle served for five years as assistant superintendent of business services as well as director of support services, principal and teacher in the 2,700-student Keppel Union School District.
Doyle received his master’s degree from California State University, Bakersfield, after receiving his bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Minnesota State University.
“We’re very excited to have found Mr. Doyle who will continue the great work that Janene Maxon, interim superintendent, has contributed to our district for the past six months,” said school board President Victor Torres.
“Mr. Doyle is known for his instructional leadership, his business acumen, his ability to create teams and to be collaborative and inclusive style,” Torres said in a statement. “He is all about student outcomes and achievement. He is in this business to achieve accelerated student achievement and to ensure that all staff has the highest level of knowledge and capacity regarding how to approve instruction in classrooms.”
Doyle is highly respected at Keppel and is well liked by all of his colleagues. He is one of the strongest instructional leaders in the Los Angeles County and focuses all of his efforts on accountability and student achievement, according to a press release.
He is eager to create great partnerships with civic and community organizations and, of course, his district office administrators and principals.
“We had close to 20 excellent external candidates with no internal applicants and interviewed five prior to making our decision. We had strong finalists and were impressed by the field,” said school board member Laura Pearson. “His resume speaks for itself, and we know he will be an excellent leader for the district.”

I wish Mr. Doyle the very best. It was an honor to work with you for 15 of your 25 years with Keppel. Castaic is very fortunate to have such a student centered administrator. Best wishes Mr. Doyle.
