1863 - Gen. Edward F. Beale loans money to A.A. Hudson and Oliver P. Robbins to erect toll house in Newhall Pass [story]

Sierra Vista Junior High School parents were notified Monday about an incident of a male suspect attempting to lure a student.

Principal Carolyn Hoffman called parents to remind their students the importance of walking to and from school in groups and to be mindful of their surroundings. The following information is from Sierra Vista’s social media account:

We received information tonight (Monday) that after school a man in a black van with front and back windows and long windows on the sides attempted to lure a student. The van had red paint markings on the side. The van approached the student near the corner of Delight and Esterbrook in Canyon Country. The man driving the van was described as being dressed all in black with a black hoodie and a black hat turned backwards.

It was reported that he was wearing a black bandana over his mouth. He had dred-like hair and his skin tone was light to dark.

Local authorities have been notified and increased patrol units will be around school. If you have any further information, please call the SCV Sheriff’s Station at 255-1121. Also, our S V Text-A-Tip number is (661) 724-6478.

The safety of all students is our primary concern.

Can we report this story accurate so parents and students can take the appropriate action? This did not happen after school as implied. She was not walking home from school when this happened. This occurred at 9pm at night which is several hours after school has closed. Saying this happened after school has put fear into parents ,teachers and students and has raised questions if their kid is safe to walk home from school during daylight hours. No student should be walking around at 9pm on a school night anyways. I’m not trying to make excuses for what happened but there are a lot of parent too afraid to let their child go to school due to they were not given the correct information to this story.

You’ll want to call the school and tell them, because (as it says) it’s not a news story written by us. It’s unedited information from the school.

  22. cbrow says:

Im old and I recall being chased twice, both times I was lucky and saved by kind neighbors. My sister was chased, she was saved because she ran into some kind strangers open door. We never reported it, we didn’t know we should. It is no different today as it was yesterday. The only difference is thanks to technology we now know to report these things and it gets communicated fast. Lets just help each other by keeping an eye on all our kids, paying attention to people and cars that seem out of place and lets report it.
