Five Santa Clarita Valley arts organizations have been approved for new grant funding from the Los Angeles County Arts Commission.
They’re among the 205 “cultural services” organizations that will split $4.5 million in new award money. Under the program, organizations apply every other year, so the award amounts are for two years.
Organizations are lumped into categories by budget size – small (up to $200,000), mid-size (up to $1 million), larger mid-size (up to $15 million) and large (over $15 million). The local groups fall into the smaller categories.
ARTree Community Arts Center (small) will receive $2,500 to support teaching staff and popup art activities and experiences.
Santa Clarita Artists’ Association (small) will receive $6,700 to support its annual Art Classic and scholarship program.
Santa Clarita Philharmonic Orchestra (small) will receive $3,100 to support its concert season, specifically by providing spends to professional musicians.
Santa Clarita Shakespeare Festival (small) will receive $10,700 to support space, production costs and administrative capacity. The Shakespeare Festival puts on the L.A. SummerFest at Rivendale.
ESCAPE Theatre (mid-size) will receive $21,100 to support rehearsal studio rent and an assistant choreographer and part-time administrative assistant.
