headline

sheriffpatch[LASD] On Wednesday, July 30, 2014 a residential burglary was reported to have occurred within the city of Santa Clarita. The victim reported that when she returned home her front door was unlocked and the interior of her residence was ransacked. The victim also noticed the mesh screen on her kitchen window had been cut out.

Missing from inside the victim’s residence were electronics, US currency, and other property belonging to the victim.

Within the next few days, the victim logged on and accessed her “cloud” account. The victim noticed photographsselfie082014 (selfies) had been sent to the “cloud” depicting people she did not know. The photographs were uploaded to the “cloud” after the burglary occurred.

Detectives assigned to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station would like to speak to the people shown in the attached photographs. If you know the identity of the persons of interest shown in these photos or their whereabouts, detectives are asking that you call LA Crime Stoppers by dialing 800-222-TIPS (8477), texting the letters TIPLA plus your tip to CRIMES (274637), or using the website http://lacrimestoppers.org

You can also email Detective Dow at BRDow@lasd.org if you have further information

There is no further information at this time.selfie2-082014

  7. How would this even be possible? Was their password to their dropbox account written down in the house when it was robbed? Don’t get it.

    • Mike Naney says:

No apple has a free cloud that you photos go to based on you iTunes account. You don’t have to log in. It auto saves on the cloud

    • When you turn the device on or it is connected to wifi every so often it automatically updates and store the pictures

    • ok sure but how would these pics get there? you’re saying the home owner left their phone at home when they were robbed? these burglars found it and took selfies in their bed?

    • Joey Caban says:

I doesn’t need to be a phone. It could be an iPad and they were taking selfies at their own home later on. If they are the burglars they must’ve just logged into their wifi at home, taken some pictures and they automatically get saved onto whoever that iPad belonged to initially. When a photo gets saved to the cloud, whatever devices that are connected to that username connected to that cloud can be seen from any of those devices.

    • John Diego says:

Photos from iPhone automatically update photo to the stream no matter where you are. Just needs to be on line

    • Joey Caban that makes sense. So I guess they stole a non password protected ipad and then took selfies at their own home with it without doing a factory reset first? If that’s the case, they’re stupid and deserve to get caught!

    • David Medina says:

I thought that too buuuuut it’s not likely since the phone hasn’t been erased clean and the photos still uploaded to the original owners cloud. I doubt someone was down to buy an iphone with someone else’s settings and profile still on it.
