[KHTS] Steven Brooks, Stephen Daniels and Stacy Fortner have officially filed for candidacy for the Castaic Lake Water Agency’s upcoming November governing board election, according to CLWA officials.
Brooks is scheduled to run against incumbent Ed Colley to represent division one, Daniels will challenge incumbent Robert DiPrimio to represent division two and Fortner is expected to run against incumbents Gary Martin and Tom Campbell for a seat as a member at large, according to the county officials.
During the 2012 election, no incumbents were challenged, according to the Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder’s Office. The deadline to file was Aug. 8.
“I’m running because I have a genuine concern for the future of this valley and the way Castaic Lake Water Agency is managing our water supply,” Daniels said. “I want to hold the CLWA accountable for the decisions that they’ve been making and continually ask, ‘Can we do better?’ when it comes to serving the public.”
Fortner said she was looking to improve transparency and the implementation of technology to improve the management of the agency’s resources.
“Managing our water supply is one of the most important issues facing the Santa Clarita Valley and California as a whole,” Fortner said. “As a member, I will create a board whose decisions are more visible and transparent to the public and use my expertise in the field of high technology to move CLWA toward greater management of resources.”
No candidates will run against incumbent Jacquelyn McMillan to represent Division 3, according to CLWA officials.
The term for all elected directors is four years, officials said.
