The College of the Canyons football program has released its 2017 spring football practice schedule with sessions set to begin on Monday, April 10.
Canyons finished the 2016 season with an overall record of 5-6 and a 3-2 conference mark to finish in second place in the Southern California Football Association (SCFA) National Division, Northern Conference.
The Cougars also earned an SCFA bowl berth, facing Mt. San Antonio College in the 2016 Golden State Bowl.
At season’s end Canyons had seven players earn All-SCFA honors, including four First-Team selections.
Additionally, COC freshman defensive lineman Dorian Gerald and sophomore punter Austin McKinney were both named to the 2016 Region III All-California Community College Football Team.
In December, three COC players signed National Letters of Intent with NCAA Division I programs, having already enrolled at their new institutions for the spring 2017 semester.
Freshman wide receiver Marquise Brown is now at Oklahoma University, sophomore defensive lineman Sione Taufahema transferred to University of Arizona and sophomore offensive lineman Tyler Bjorklund has moved on to Colorado State University.
The Cougars will kick off the 2017 season with a road game vs. Antelope Valley College on Saturday, Sept. 2
