College of the Canyons freshman kicker Ryan Sinclair has been named the Southern California Football Association (SCFA) Northern League Special Teams/All Purpose Player of the Week for his performance against Bakersfield College in week eleven.
A full list of SCFA Player of the Week Honorees can be found here.
Sinclair was an essential component of the Cougars’ 44-28 win over conference rival Bakersfield College last Saturday.
The freshman, who prepped at Canyon High School, converted on all five of his PAT attempts, and was a perfect 3-for-3 in booting field goals of 31, 19 and 25 yards.
Sinclair joins COC quarterback Andrew Brito and running back Keland White as SCFA Player of the Week honorees for the 2017 season.
Brito was recognized for his performance against Moorpark College in week eight. White was selected after his contributions vs. Long Beach City College in week four.
No. 5 Canyons (8-2, 4-1) finished the regular season second in the Southern California Football Association (SCFA) National Division, Northern League behind conference champion Ventura College (8-2, 5-0).
The Cougars won six of their final seven games, including four straight to close the regular season.
After narrowly missing out on a trip to the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) state playoffs, the Cougars will host No. 6 Mt. San Antonio College in the 2017 Western State Bowl.
Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 18, at Cougar Stadium.
General admission tickets are $12. Students/staff from both schools, seniors over age 60 and children under 12 are $8.
Saturday’s bowl game will also be live streamed to fans through a broadcast partnership with SoCalCollegeSports.com, with longtime Cougar football play-by-play man Joe Soriano on the call.
