Duke Realty, an Indianapolis-based commercial real estate developer, announced that it will break ground early this summer on a two-story, 37,000-square-foot, off-campus medical office building (MOB) on 3.85 acres on the south side of Soledad Canyon Road in the Canyon Country neighborhood of Santa Clarita, which is about 33 miles northwest of Los Angeles.
The MOB will be owned by Duke Realty and has been 100 percent preleased by Facey Medical Group, an affiliate of Providence Health and Services, a not-for-profit Catholic health system serving communities across seven states, including California.
“We are pleased to begin developing a new, larger medical facility so that we can expand the services we offer area residents,” says Dr. Fredrick Russo, President of Facey Medical Group. “With this new modern building, we will be able to relocate the Facey Clinic currently at 17909 Soledad Canyon Road, plus add much-needed services in a convenient and accessible site.”
Keith Konkoli, Duke Realty Executive Vice President, Healthcare, noted, “While Duke Realty has developed a number of industrial properties in Southern California, we are really excited to expand our healthcare footprint to include this dynamic market. We are also pleased to work for the first time with Facey Medical Group, a multispecialty physician group that provides high-quality, compassionate medical care to its patients.”
The architect for the project will be Boulder Associates, which has offices in California, Colorado and Texas, and the general contractor will be Irvine, Calif.-based Snyder Langston. The MOB is expected to be completed in June 2018.

Interesting choice of property location. The new site seems to be a remnant of the last burst of development on the east side. It has a lovely view of the 14 Freeway and sand/gravel operations in the riverbed, and all of Shadow Pines and the Stonecrest development across the street from it.
I wonder how much parking will be placed on that footprint, and how much larger the square footage of the buildings will be. If the square footage will be larger…
99% of actual and potential clients live west of there. The current Facey CC location is closer to Sierra Hwy, and has an unoccupied developed parcel very near it that was at one time advertised as a new Kaiser location.
I guess that old “location, location, location” real estate adage should be modified so that it says “location, location, location vs price, price, price”.
Wow, I live in the neighborhood right near that property if it’s the one on Soledad and Mammoth Lane. I’ve been here since the Northridge Earthquake. For years, I hoped that would be a small shopping center, but having a clean medical building is even better. We won’t have constant traffic after hours. Not that it would bother me because I’m a couple of miles up into the hills, but the folks that live right near there should be happier. I’ve had Facey for years. Just as the finish this building, I’m be preparing to leave this state as I retire because of the unreasonable taxes and firearms restrictions.
Why would they not buy/occupy the empty building at 17901 Soledad Canyon? That is such a large EMPTY building…. and next to the existing Facey building. Doesn’t make sense to build new when empty buildings are sitting and deteriorating.

Odd to have that large a space on that small tract of land at Soledad and Mammoth Lane. And the closest commercial anything is 3 miles down the road.
Best place to have it ? not complaining at all..
