Valley Performing Arts Center (The Soraya) brings laughter to the stage with two shows from icons of comedy. CSUN Alum Cheech Marin (Up in Smoke, Jane the Virgin) hosts an evening of comedy for the 3rd annual CSUN alumni performance on September 28; Horatio Sanz (Saturday Night Live) will lead the Upright Citizens Brigade All-Stars in a night of unpredictable improvisation on October 14.

With an unequalled catalog of film, TV, and recordings, Cheech, a five-decade veteran has done it all, from king of counter culture to his familiar voice in Disney’s The Lion King. Cheech returns to his old CSUN stomping grounds and brings some of the young guns of comedy with him to VPAC.

Cheech Marin Hosts an Evening of Comedy (September 28) marks the third annual CSUN Alumni performance at Valley Performing Arts Center (The Soraya). Previously, VPAC hosted alumni mezzo-soprano Michelle DeYoung and System Of A Down’s Serj Tankian.

Upright Citizens Brigade (UCB) All-Stars (October 14) is a 90-minute, unscripted and totally improvised performance from the company at the forefront of improvisational comedy. Horatio Sanz and four other UCB improvisers at the top of their game, will perform a high-energy, surprising and hilarious show that has never been seen before and will never be seen again.

The UCB – founded by Amy Poehler, Matt Besser, Ian Roberts, and Matt Walsh – has been home to some of the biggest stars in comedy today. From TV shows like Broad City, Saturday Night Live, Silicon Valley, Veep, and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, to films such as Bridesmaids, The Hangover, and The Heat, as well as the writing rooms of Key and Peele, The Daily Show, Inside Amy Schumer, among others more. With flagship theatres in New York City and Los Angeles, UCB continues to foster the next generations of comedy.

Horatio Sanz is a former cast member for Saturday Night Live and a founding member of The Upright Citizens Brigade. Sanz co-starred with Cuba Gooding Jr. in the feature film “Boat Trip,” and was featured in the hit movies, “Step Brothers” and “Road Trip”. He has also been a guest on “Comedy Bang! Bang!” and will appear on Season 2 of “Great News” on NBC this Fall.
