The city of Santa Clarita has been hosting events and activities to help integrate the arts into the community, businesses and daily lives as part of National Arts and Humanities month.
ARTober has been a success thanks to residents who have attended each event.
On October 1, participants in Arts Tune Up had the opportunity to reflect on the involvement of the arts in an array of subjects such as fundraising, skill-sharing and social media through workshops and presentations. Elemental Experience, showcased on October 8, invited observers to engage Idelle Okman Tyzbir’s wind, fire and water sensory installation at the Westfield Valencia Town Center Art Exhibit. The Public Art Celebration, which will take place from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 15 at Central Park, will offer interactive art, folkloric dancing and live music. “The Western Tiger Swallowtail,” created by LT Mustardseed, will be the pinnacle piece of the celebration.
As the month comes to a close, the city of Santa Clarita invites residents to the final ARTober event. On Saturday, Oct. 22, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., the city will be hosting a Launch Party for SantaClaritaArts.com at The Patios at the Westfield Valencia Town Center. The new website offers a comprehensive listing of events in the Santa Clarita Valley, as well as a creative directory to search for artists and creative services, news to stay up to date on local art happenings and digital resource services for artists.
Join the community in celebrating a month of art and the launch of the new website, which will support arts programs and services in our community. For more information about the Launch Party or SantaClaritaArts.com, please contact the City of Santa Clarita’s Arts and Events Office at (661) 250-3787.
