College of the Canyons infielder Valerie Rivas (pictured above) will continue her collegiate career at the University of Antelope Valley after committing to the Pioneers softball program.
UAV is a National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) program located in Lancaster. The Pioneers compete in the California Pacific Conference (Cal Pac).
Rivas played two seasons for the Cougars, primarily starting at third base while also registering time behind the plate.
She capped the 2019 season by earning All-Western State Conference Second-Team honors after batting .336 with 28 RBIs and 24 runs across 42 games. Her RBI total ranked third on the squad.
As a freshman in 2018, Rivas was an All-WSC Honorable Mention selection for the conference champion Cougars.
Canyons finished the 2019 regular season as runner-up in the WSC East Division.
