The lady Cougars volleyball team took on the Allan Hancock Bulldogs Wednesday in the Cougar Cage, hoping to extend their winning streak to three.
The Cougars looked strong and played smart early in the first set, and kept the Bulldogs quiet.
The Cougars won the first game, 25 to 9.
In the second set, the Cougars did not ease up and brought out their “A” game—Aces to be exact.
Setter Ariane Labrzycki had three aces in a row. Those aces and great passing helped the cougars take the second game 25 to 14.
By the third and final game, it was clear that impeccable serving by the Cougars sealed the deal. The Cougars beat the bulldogs 25 to 12.
The team as a whole had a whopping 17 aces for the night and 14 kills.
“We worked very hard to make sure we have a strong service game,” COC Coach Lisa Hooper said. “The best way to take on a tough opponent out of their system is to serve tough and force them to make either a passing error or less than perfect pass. So we know we are going to need that as we start to meet some other opponents. It’s going to be really important to be able to disrupt their offense with our service game, so I was pleased that we went back their ad we went after it as well as we did tonight.”
The College of the Canyons women’s volleyball team improves their record for the year to 6 and 4.
The Cougars travel to Moorpark College on Friday to take on the Raiders.
