Tip of the Week: Air-Soft Gun and BB/Pellet Gun Safety
Although Air-Soft guns and BB/Pellet guns can be a lot of fun, there are safety precautions we must all take when using these items. Regardless of how the guns look, we need to remember that Air-Soft guns and BB/Pellet guns do fire projectiles that can cause great bodily injury to a person or animal if not used safely. Air-Soft guns should only be used in designated areas specifically designed for their use where are safety measures and rules are strongly enforced. BB/Pellet guns should also be used in safe environments where all precautions have been taken to assure that no one gets hurt.
The biggest concern we as law enforcement officers have regarding these types of guns, is their strong resemblance to real firearms. Many of these guns look identical to actual assault rifles and hand guns. Never display an Air-Soft gun or BB/Pellet gun in public, and when transporting these guns, assure that they are inside some kind of case or bag and kept out of view of the general public. When transporting such items, it is always best to keep them secured in the trunk of the vehicle.
Take care, and be safe.
