The Golden Valley High School basketball program in association with Statham Academy will present a “Pro All-Star Game” at Golden Valley High School to raise funds for Saugus High School Sunday at 4 p.m.
“One hundred percent of the proceeds will be going to Saugus high school victims and mental health programs for the school,” academy founder Taylor Statham said in an email.
Statham, a graduate of Golden Valley High School, went on to play college basketball at California Baptist and Can State San Bernardino before playing for teams overseas.
He now plays in Thailand. He won the 2018 Thailand Super League’s Best Small Forward of the year award for the second consecutive year in 2018. Statham and his academy also hold basketball training clinics and camps for young and semi-pro players.
High-level professional basketball players are set to play in the game, including players from the NBA G League.
The event will include a dunk contest and a raffle.
Statham hopes to bring players from the SCV’s prep and college basketball teams together to show their support for Saugus High.
“It’s a lot of work but I’m trying to do something great for the community before I take off to play overseas again December 9,” he said.
