The inaugural Fantastic Lane Winter Festival is coming to Santa Clarita on Sunday, Dec. 11, from 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

A year-end holiday celebration for Santa Clarita Valley residents of all ages, the Fantastic Lane Winter Festival will take over the sprawling four-acre LIMS (Lifton Institute of Media Arts & Sciences) studio complex on Fantastic Lane, just off Interstate 5.

25Score and LIMS organizers and their elves are busy right now creating a winter wonderland inside the studio’s massive movie soundstages, which will be dressed with different holiday themes.

While outside weather won’t affect the Winter Festival, there is a 100 percent chance of snow on December 11. Festival-goers will enjoy cavorting, sledding down slides and snowball fights on a huge 20-ton mountain of real snow.

Dozens of local vendors will set up their booths along Cobblestone Lane, creating an old fashioned shopping Lane of unique boutiques perfect for visitors to shop for those last-minute holiday gifts.

A half-dozen food vendors will serve a variety of tasty food, sweets and holiday treats, including hot chocolate, hot apple cider and latkes, a traditional Chanukah staple.

Along with snow fun, youngsters (accompanied by their parents) will have lots to do in the interactive Kids’ Zone, including face-painting, arts and crafts, jumpers, a slot car raceway, giant-sized games and more.

Kids can also write a letter to Santa and send it to the North Pole. Miraculously, Santa will be at the Winter Festival in person to take photos with families. A large Menorah and Dreidel will also be available for holiday photos.

Performers from Santa Clarita’s Spotlight Arts Center and other local groups will be entertaining guests all day with holiday-themed on stage performances, strolling carolers and musical trios. Fantastic Lane’s favorite DJ will spin festive holiday jams between shows.

At sunset, the first Fantastic Lane Winter Festival will wrap with a phantasmagorical light show staged by the LIMS lighting crew.

“We’re very excited to be involved in the LIMS veteran training studio and to be using their venue for big events,” said 25Score’s Ed and Marlene Bernstein, co-producers of both the Casket Lake and Winter Festival events with LIMS founder-president Jimmy Lifton.

Lifton, a noted Hollywood entertainment producer, filmmaker and Emmy-winning sound editor, is also founder of LIMS’ acclaimed program for training military veterans for quality jobs in film and TV production.

“The community has definitely embraced us producing large events in Castaic, and we’re looking forward to our second event being bigger than the first,” Bernstein said. “We had 2,200 people show up to the Casket Lake event October 23, and we’re looking at close to 4,000 for the Fantastic Lane Winter Festival.”

There will be collection boxes at the entrance of the event collecting toys for Kidneys Quest Foundation to be distributed to children with kidney disorders. Also being collected are used shoes for Spotlight Arts Center (which donates them to a company that repurposes them) and
the SCV Junior Chamber of Commerce will be collecting canned and dry food to be donated to Help the Children, a local organization that 25Score supports.
