On Sunday, Dec. 2, the Kiwanis Club of Santa Clarita will hold its 21st annual 5K Run at Six Flags Magic Mountain. The course is accessible to wheel-chairs and strollers. Included will be a 1K run/walk for those who prefer a less-demanding experience. Race-day registration begins at 6:30 am. Race start times are 7:45 am for the 1K, and 8:00 am for the 5K.
Kiwanis is a global organization of members of every age who are dedicated to changing the world, one child and one community at a time. Kiwanis provides leadership and service opportunities for youth through its Service Leadership Programs. The Kiwanis Club of Santa Clarita has been active in the Valley for 85 years. It sponsors six local High School Key clubs, one Jr. High Builders Club, and one Aktion Club located at LARC Ranch.. These clubs receive funding and professional guidance from Kiwanis.
Kiwanis will be partnering with Bridges to Ability Foundation, which provides social, recreational, vocational and educational programs, in the Santa Clarita Valley, for teens and adults,16 years and older, with disabilities. Proceeds from the Run will benefit both Bridges to Ability and Kiwanis sponsored activities.
The race will tie-in with Magic Mountain’s Toys for the Holidays drive. You will receive a free general admission ticket when you bring a new unwrapped toy valued at $20 or more to the donation booth. (Unwrapped toys must be new and in their original packaging with the price tag or receipt attached.) The donated toys will benefit The Boys and Girls Club of Santa Clarita.
We hope that you will join in the fun and stride along this exciting and challenging course, where you will find yourself in the midst of world class roller-coasters, rides, and other fantastic attractions. T-shirts are guaranteed for the first 300 pre-registered runners. Entries and payment must be received before November 23, 2012.
