The Santa Clarita Public Library will team with the SCV Education Foundation and SCV Water to host the 13th annual Family Literacy Festival at the Old Town Newhall Library on Saturday, December 7, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Themed “Adventure by the Books,” the free event will celebrate literature, music, dance and crafts.
The day will be filled with fun activities and performances that will inspire artistic expression.
Christopher Ramirez, with Freedom Drum Circle, will kick-off the festival at 9:45 a.m., and performances by Mariachi Zapopan and other local musicians will follow.
Local nonprofits, schools, artists and education enthusiasts will host interactive stations, and attendees will have opportunities to win prizes and giveaways.
Some of the activities will include storytime with the Mayor at 11 a.m., free face painting, bounce houses, costumed character photo opportunities, the Farmers Market and much more.
No RSVP is required to attend, just show up. Free parking can be found at the Old Town Newhall Parking Garage at 2551 9th Street.
