Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station deputies arrested an unnamed 23-year-old Newhall man for driving under the influence of alcohol and marijuana early Tuesday morning, station officials reported Thursday.
Here’s more of the story from the station’s social media:
“On Tuesday, April 2, around 1 a.m., a deputy patrolling on Railroad Avenue saw a car pass by on opposing lanes at a high rate of speed.
“The deputy made a U-turn and observed the vehicle continuing to travel at a high rate of speed.
“A traffic stop was initiated and the deputy asked the male adult driver why he was driving so fast.
“The driver replied that he was ‘having too much fun in his car.’
“The deputy learned that the driver had just recently consumed alcohol and smoked marijuana.
“Field sobriety tests were administered and the ‘giggling driver’ was unable to pass them.
“The deputy arrested the 23-year-old Newhall man on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol and marijuana, and for possession of an open container of marijuana.
“Impaired driving — it’s no laughing matter.”
