The Los Angeles Dodgers (91-37) reinstated right-handed pitcher Yu Darvish from the 10-day disabled list Sunday and placed right-handed pitcher Josh Fields on the 10-day DL (retroactive to Aug. 25) with a lower back strain.
Darvish is the starting pitcher in Sunday’s matinee against the visiting Milwaukee Brewers (67-63) at Dodger Stadium.
Darvish, who missed eight games due to lower back tightness, makes his 26th start of the season Sunday afternoon and fourth as a Dodger.
He last pitched on Aug. 16 against the White Sox, allowing three runs on eight hits in 6.0 innings with two strikeouts and did not factor in the decision in the Dodgers’ 5-4 victory.
Since being acquired on July 31 from the Rangers, Darvish has gone 2-0 with a 2.50 ERA (5 ER/18.0 IP) and has struck out 22 batters against just four walks in three starts.
On the season, he is 8-9 with a 3.83 ERA (66 ER/155.0 IP) and has held hitters to a .227 average while striking out 170 against 49 walks in 26 combined starts with the Rangers and the Dodgers.
Fields is 5-1 with one save and has posted a 2.68 ERA (14 ER/47.0 IP) in 47 games this season. He last pitched on Aug. 24, going 0.1 innings at Pittsburgh.
Today’s game against the Brewers wraps up the Dodgers’ quick three-game homestand with the Brewers.
The Dodgers last lost a series from June 5-7 vs. Washington at Dodger Stadium and since then have gone 19-0-3 in their subsequent 22 series, before this one.
The Dodgers are 30-10 in the final game of a series and 4-2 in their six rubber matches this season. On Monday, the club will fly to Phoenix and start a seven-game road trip against the second-place Diamondbacks (three games) and San Diego Padres (four games) on Tuesday at Chase Field.
The Dodgers have won 31 of their last 36 games at Dodger Stadium since June 7, including winning 13 of their last 15 games at home, and hold the best home record in the Majors with a .776 winning percentage.
Los Angeles currently ranks second among the NL’s all-time best home records since 1913, trailing only the 1975 Reds (64-17, .790).
The Dodgers have taken three of five from Milwaukee this year and one more victory clinches the season series against the Brewers for the third consecutive season. Los Angeles has also won six of its last nine vs. Milwaukee at home.
Los Angeles was shut out last night for the seventh time this season, which is tied with the Braves and Rockies for the fourth most in the NL, behind the Phillies (9), Cubs (8) and Giants (8).
LORDS OF LIGHT: This afternoon, the Dodgers play their 36th day game of the season and currently own a Major League best .743 winning percentage in those contests (26-9). The club is 14-5 (.737) on Sundays and a big league best 17-6 (.739) in the month of August, 1.5 games better than the Miami Marlins (16-8) this month.
ARE YU BACK OR WHAT?: Dodger right-hander Yu Darvish was reinstated from the 10-day disabled list today (lower back tightness) and will make his fourth start with the Dodgers since being acquired at the July 31 trade deadline. Darvish is 2-0 with a 2.50 ERA (5 ER/18.0 IP) in his three starts with Los Angeles, while striking out 22 and walking just four. On the season, the native of Japan is 8-9 with a 3.82 ERA and is tied for tenth in the Major Leagues with 170 strikeouts. Darvish has never faced the Brewers in his five seasons in the Major League.
The Dodgers lead the Major Leagues with a 3.10 ERA, a 1.11 WHIP and a .221 opponents’ batting average, while leading the NL in strikeouts (1,214). Los Angeles has also walked the fewest batters in the bigs, issuing just 335 free passes.
The Dodger bullpen leads the Majors with a 2.97 ERA (142 ER/430.1 IP) and Los Angeles starters lead the Majors with a 3.18 mark (254 ER/718.0 IP).
Kenley Jansen nailed down his 35th save Friday night (2nd, NL), just three off the Major League high. He leads NL relievers in WHIP (0.68), and ranks second with 90 strikeouts. Jansen leads the Majors in strikeout-to-walk ratio (18.00), with 90 Ks against just five walks in 57.1 innings. L.A. is 53-2 when Jansen appears in a game.
VIVA YASIEL: Dodger right-fielder Yasiel Puig went 1-for-3 with a double last night and has a six-game hitting streak since Aug. 21 in which he is batting .435 (10-for-23) with five runs, three doubles and two homers. Puig leads the Dodgers and ranks ninth in the National League this month with a .433 on-base percentage and his 18 August walks rank third in the NL.
Puig will stop by Viva Los Dodgers this morning and greet the fans on the main stage. Dodger legend Manny Mota and longtime scout Mike Brito will also be out at Viva signing autographs today.
STATS DON’T LIE: The Dodgers own the best record in baseball with a 91-37 mark (.711), 13.5 games better than the Astros and Nationals, and also hold the best record in the NL through 128 games since the 1944 Cardinals (93-35, .727).
The Dodgers have won 25 of their last 31 and have gone 56-12 since June 7, which is the best 68-game stretch in franchise history and the best in the Majors since the 1912 N.Y. Giants.
Los Angeles’ +220 run differential is the best in the Major Leagues, 56 runs better than the Astros.

PLAY THE HITS: Corey Seager’s ninth-inning infield single last night extended his season-long hitting streak to 14 games (22-for-62, .355). Seager has hit safely in 19 of 20 games with a .419 OBP, three doubles, a homer and 11 RBI since Aug. 3. Overall, he ranks among the NL leaders in batting average (.312, 7th), doubles (30, T-8th) and OBP (.393, 11th). Seager also ranks sixth in the NL with a .372 batting average with RISP (32-for-86).
Chris Taylor is hitting .344 (52-for-151, 5th NL) with a .404 OBP, seven homers and 24 RBI in 37 games since the All-Star break, and overall, he ranks among the NL leaders in batting average (.307, 12th) and doubles (31, T-6th).
SEE YOU IN SAN DIEGO: Dodger ace Clayton Kershaw had a stellar rehab start last night for Triple-A Oklahoma City last night, tossing 5.0 innings (71 pitches) and gave up just one run on two hits without a walk while striking out eight. Following the game last night, Dodger manager Dave Roberts announced that Kershaw would be reinstated and make his first start for the Dodgers since July 23 on either Friday or Saturday in San Diego. Kershaw is working his way back from a lower back strain. The Dodgers have gone 23-6 (.793) in his absence.
MASTER BREWER: Dodger first baseman Adrián González hit his 100th homer in six seasons as a Dodger Thursday evening, making him the 17th player in L.A. history to reach the century home run mark with the club and first since Matt Kemp on May 23, 2011.
González’s .343 career average against the Brewers is tied with Ken Griffey Sr. for the second-highest all-time (min. 250 PA) by a left-handed hitter, trailing only Barry Bonds (.359).
SILVER FOXES AND WILD HORSES: Today concludes the first-annual “Players Weekend,” a joint effort between MLB and the MLB Players Association that featured new uniforms and nicknames on the back of the players’ jerseys.
The uniforms are inspired by youth leagues with bright colors and pull-over jerseys. In addition, each player will wear a “Thank You” patch in order to recognize someone who was important in their development.
The game-worn, “Players Weekend” jerseys will be auctioned at MLB.com/auctions with all proceeds donated to the MLB-MLBPA Youth Development Foundation, a joint effort by MLB and the MLBPA to improve amateur baseball and softball programs across the U.S. and Canada.
