Hi Jolly's Tomb

The Los Angeles Dodgers closed out their season-high-tying 10-game homestand going 8-2 with a 3-2 extra-inning walk-off victory over the San Francisco Giants at Dodger Stadium Sunday.

It was the Dodgers’ 14th sweep of the season, the most the club has recorded since 1976 and the best in the Major Leagues right now.

Los Angeles, which won its eighth consecutive game, improved its big league best record to 74-31 (.705) and will finish the month of July with a 20-3 (.870) record, which is the highest winning percentage during the month of July in franchise history.

o The Dodgers recorded their NL leading ninth walk-off victory of the season and their third of this homestand (last: July 26 vs. MIN). It was also the clubs 31st comeback victory this year and Los Angeles improved to 7-2 in extra innings.

o The Dodger defense turned six double plays, which is the most in franchise history.

• The Giants lost their third straight game and were swept for the eighth time this season. San Francisco, which fell to 18-38 on the road this year, has lost five consecutive games away from AT&T Park.

o The Giants hit into a season-high six double plays, the most since May 4, 1969 at HOU (7 GIDP)

DODGER NOTES:
• Despite not factoring in the decision in his 15th start of the year, Hyun-Jin Ryu tossed his best outing of the season allowing just five hits over seven scoreless innings with seven strikeouts. In his last five starts, Ryu has gone 1-0 with a 2.60 ERA (8 ER/27.2 IP) and has struck out 30 batters against nine walks.
o In nine games (eight starts) at home this season, Ryu has gone 2-2 with one save and has posted a 3.51 ERA (19 ER/48.2 IP), while limiting batters to a .263 average and striking out 45 against 12 walks.
• In his Major League debut and in his first big league at-bat, Kyle Farmer recorded the biggest hit of the night as he drove in the game-winning run with a pinch-hit two-run double in the bottom of the 11th inning. According to Stats LLC., the last Dodger to have his first career hit be a walk-off hit was Darren Dreifort on May 27, 1994 vs. PIT (RBI single) and the last Dodger position player to do it was Greg Brock on September 5, 1982 vs. PIT (RBI single). Neither Dreifort nor Brock were in their MLB debut, making Farmer the only Dodger in franchise history to record a walk-off hit in his first career plate appearance.
• In the bottom of the ninth inning, Yasiel Puig tied the game 1-1 with an RBI single, driving in Chase Utley who reached base on a pinch-hit infield single and stole second base. Puig is batting .314 (11-for-35) with four runs, one double, one triple, one home run and five RBI in his last 11 games since July 19. Utley has hit safely in seven of his last eight games at Dodger Stadium, going 9-for-23 (.391) with six runs, three doubles, one home run, four RBI and two stolen bases.
• Corey Seager recorded his third consecutive multi-hit game and his second straight three-hit game after going 3-for-4 with a double and two walks in tonight’s contest. Seager has reached base safely in 20 of 22 games in July, batting .333 (30-for-90) with 12 runs, eight doubles, six home runs and 14 RBI along with a .1.010 OPS.
• Cody Bellinger reached base safely in three of five plate appearances tonight going 1-for-3 with two walks. In 15 games since the All-Star break, Bellinger has hit .291 (16-for-55) with six runs, one double, one triple, three home runs and 11 RBI along with a .381 on-base percentage.

The Dodgers are off today and kick off a road trip Tuesday in Atlanta against the Braves.
