Update: 356 p.m.: The Hughes fire has now burned 8,096 acres according to Cal Fire. Evacuations have been issued for VNC zone 1 near Lake Piru.

A temporary evacuation center has also been set up at Hart High, located at 24825 Newhall ave, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

Update 2:30 p.m.:  The evacuation orders from L.A. County have now expanded the following areas:

-Reyes Adobe

-Franscisquito

-Biscailuz

-Sterling

-Kelly Johnson

-Tesoro Del Valle

– LAC-E029

These orders have put the neighboring areas in evacuation warnings. Urging residents in those zones to get ready incase the order zone expands to them.

Update 12:40: The Hughes Fire is now up to 5,054 acres burned according to Cal Fire’s incident map. Evacuation orders have now been issued for Hasley Canyon area as well.

The following roads have been closed due to the fire:

-Ridge Route Rd at Lake Hughes

-Ridge Route Rd at Templin Hwy

-Lake Hughes at Pine Cyn

-Dry Gulch at San Francisquito Cyn Rd

-I-5 NB at Parker Rd Off Ramp and I-5 NB at Lake Hughes Rd off ramp will be shut down.

-Northbound I-5 all lanes closed just north of State Route 126.

An emergency Evacuation order has been issued for areas around Castaic Lake due to the break of of the Hughes fire.

The order effects Bitter Canyon, Paradise Ranch, Charlie Canyon,  Ridge, Sloan Canyon, Greenhill, Hillcrest and Cambridge neighborhoods. Much of the surrounding area have been given evacuation warnings, according to county officials. 

L.A. County Fire is advising residents to keep their phones charged and get ready for further evacuation orders and warnings as the blaze continues.

The Hughes fire broke out around 11:30 just off of Lake Hughes road and has grown to 500 acres burned and is expected to rise during the red flag warning, according to LACoFD.

Some tips for those evacuating:

-Get a ‘go bag’ ready, this should include things like water snack and first aid materials and any papers or documents you might need.

-Dress to protect yourself to guard against heat and masks to protect from particles in the air.

-Get your pets ready to evacuate, have their carriers, food and water ready as well so they can leave safety with you.

-Cash, credit and debit cards

-Personal Computer and mobile drives

-Pictures and irreplaceable memorabilia

-Important Documents and phone numbers
