[News Release] – Former Los Angeles Dodgers great Steve Garvey will be the guest speaker and will hold a Q&A session with fans at Congregation Beth Shalom in Santa Clarita on Sunday, June 8. This installment of the CBS Distinguished Speaker Series is open to everyone and will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., beginning with a “Ballpark Lunch” of hot dogs, chips and drinks. Following lunch, Garvey will talk about his remarkable career with the Dodgers, and then open the floor to questions from fans.
During his exceptional 19-year, Hall of Fame-worthy baseball career, Steve Garvey was a 10-time All-Star, World Series champion, National League MVP, two-time NLCS MVP, four-time Gold Glove Award winner, two-time All-Star Game MVP and recipient of the 1981 Roberto Clemente Award. His uniform number (6) was retired by the San Diego Padres following his retirement in 1987.
Tickets for the June 8 fundraiser can be purchased online through Congregation Beth Shalom (www.cbs-scv.org) or by calling Robin Ceppi at (661) 254-2411. Adult admission is $54 per person, and includes lunch (hot dog, chips and drink); one item signed by Steve Garvey; a photo with Steve; and admission to his presentation and Q&A session. Adults interested in the lunch, presentation and Q&A only will be admitted for $36 per person. Tickets for children (12 and under) are $18 each, and will include lunch, signature, photo and admission to presentation and Q&A.
Additionally, guests can participate in a Silent Auction for several great sports memorabilia items. All proceeds from the June 8 fundraiser will benefit Congregation Beth Shalom.
