The Cougar football program saw four players from its 2018 conference championship team sign National Letters of Intent during the NCAA’s early signing period.
Canyons sophomore quarterback Wyatt Eget will head to University of Tennessee at Martin (UTM), while sophomore wide receiver Jarrin Pierce has signed with Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU).
UTM an NCAA Division I program competing in the Ohio Valley Conference. MTSU is a Division I program from Conference USA.
The QB/WR duo chose to sign their NLI paperwork at College of the Canyons, surrounded by family and friends, in front of the Athletic Department’s Hall of Fame wall, on Dec. 19.
Eget was a unanimous Southern California Football Association National Division, Northern League First-Team honoree. He finished the 2018 campaign with 2,084 passing yards, 17 total touchdowns and four interceptions after starting the final seven games of the season.
Pierce finished the year with 52 receptions for 770 yards and five touchdowns to earn All-SCFA Second-Team honors.
COC sophomore defensive backs Shaddrick Lowery Jr. and Antonio Hunt also signed National Letters of Intent with University of New Mexico (UNM), and will remain teammates as part of the Lobos football program. UNM is an NCAA Division I program representing the Mountain West Conference.
Lowery finished the season with 42 total tackles and was a First-Team All-Conference selection. Hunt recorded 27 tackles to go with four interceptions on the year.
Canyons posted a perfect 10-0 regular season record to claim the SCFA National Division, Northern League Championship.
