On behalf of everyone at City Hall, I want to wish you and your family a very happy holiday season. It has certainly been a busy year at the City and next year promises to be equally as exciting.

Most recently, the City launched two important websites in which I would like for you to be aware. The first is to help our community through the anticipated heavy rains expected as a result of El Nino; “Ready for Rain”. This comprehensive website offers information regarding preparing for a very wet season, as well as what the City is doing to prepare and assist our community. It also contains information for burn areas and links to other resources. I encourage you to check out it and while you’re at it, sign up to receive emergency information from the City.

In response to several domestic violence related homicides this year, the City has teamed up with LA County to create the DIVERT (Domestic Intervention Violence Education Resource Team) Task Force.

The Task Force meets regularly to better focus on education, outreach and enforcement to affect real change and work to stop domestic and family violence incidents in the community. A newly launched website provides a one-stop shop for all of the area’s resources pertaining to domestic violence, including counseling, support groups, anger management and more. If you are or someone you know is suffering from domestic violence, I encourage you to direct them to this website.

Finally, I hope that you have an opportunity to visit Main Street in Old Town Newhall this month. The City and our partners, Henry Mayo Hospital and the SCV Auto Dealers Association have created a winter wonderland with festive lights, holiday décor and a 23-foot Christmas tree in front of the Old Town Newhall Library.
