William S. Hart High School’s Hart Regiment won top honors at the 2018 Southern
California School Band and Orchestra Association Marching Band Championship at Downey High School on Saturday, Nov. 17.
The Hart Regiment, under the direction of Anthony Bailey, took home first place for the 14th time, with a score of 93.20. The Colorguard earned first place in Auxiliary with a score of 92.50.
Twelve bands competed for the gold.
“I am incredibly proud of all of my students,” Bailey said. “It is truly remarkable that Hart has won 14 championships. We are very fortunate to have a great team of educators, parents and administration.”
Hart Regiment performed their 2018 show, titled “Connected,” representing the various ways people are connected in the world. Through skillfully played notes, dance movements, and tosses, the band and color guard performers weaved through complex formations yet precise unity, solidifying the concluding phrase of the show, “We are all connected.”
The Hart Regiment has been named SCSBOA Marching Band Champion in their division for 14 years, an accomplishment unequaled by any group since the inception of the championships in 2002.
The Regiment has also competed at the finals level consistently at Bands of America Regional Championships since 2002.
