Human remains were discovered by hunters in an extremely remote area of Pine Canyon, near the Upper Shake Campground in Lake Hughes on Saturday afternoon.
In an active attempt to notify authorities, the hunters climbed down a mountain and reported their discovery to Palmdale Sheriff’s Station personnel.
Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Homicide detectives assembled a resourceful team of members from the LASD Crime lab, L.A. County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner and a cadaver dog and set out in the daylight hours on Sunday, Nov. 1, 2015 to locate and recover the remains.
At the scene, L.A. County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner determined that the remains were that of a human.
Homicide investigators are investigating if there was any trauma or evidence of an injury on the remains which may lead detectives of the possibility that foul play may have been involved.
The identity of the remains of the deceased will be determined by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner.
The investigation is ongoing and there is no additional information available at this time.
Anyone with information about this incident is encouraged to contact the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500.

Could this be Bryce Laspisa? He went missing after a single vehicle accident near Castaic Lake about 2 years ago.
Prayers for the family of the loved one. Hopefully it will bring answers to one of the disappearances in the area over several months. :(
I was thinking the same thing. Maybe that young man that disappeared last year or so, trick found near the lake? So sad.

I thought the campground you mentioned sounded familiar. It’s a campground Debbie was just asking me about a few weeks ago because it’s in a cool area. I checked it out online and it’s closed. Upper Shake Campground. Guess being closed indefinately makes it a good dumping ground?
A man named Dennis was never found as well
