Another sizzling weekend in the SCV, with lots of cool music ahead. Friday night, the Valencia Jazz and Blues Concert series wraps for the summer with world-traveled blues singer and keyboardist Doňa Oxford. She starts playing at 7 p.m. on the stage in front of the Hyatt Valencia, at McBean Parkway and Town Center Drive. Admission is free for all ages.
A short walk up Town Center to Valencia Wine Company, Helen Wheels rolls out her “End of July Rock Spectacular” Friday at 9 p.m.
Friday’s also SCVTV “House Blend” alum night on Fairfax Avenue in L.A.: Breaking 27 featuring guitarist Ryan Arshonsky of Limitless play at Canter’s Deli at 8, then singer Sara Niemietz and guitar player Snuffy Walden hold forth at Genghis Cohen at 9.
Saturday night, the city of Santa Clarita’s latest Concert in the Park features Led Zepagain. Now, I’m not a big fan of tribute bands, but these guys are really good at recreating Led Zeppelin and reinterpreting the band’s immortal music. It’s free for all ages — get there early, save your spot. The rock starts rollin’ at 7 p.m.
And speaking of “House Blend,” don’t miss the encore telecast of our special featuring soulful swing singer Circe Link, backed by Christian Nesmith on acoustic guitar. That’s “House Blend,” hosted by yours truly, Saturday night at 10 on SCVTV and streaming everywhere at scvtv.com.
