Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital’s Volunteer Services Department will host its annual Donate-a-Bear Drive on Saturday, June 8 from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m., in partnership with Camelot Moving and Storage.
All are invited to the hospital campus to donate a brand new, nine-to-twelve inch teddy bear or plush animal friend to be given to a child who visits the Henry Mayo Emergency Department (ED). In 2018, over 12,000 children under the age of 13 were seen in the Henry Mayo’s Emergency Department.
“We have had countless families who have shared their child’s experience after receiving a teddy bear while being treated in the emergency room,” said April Garcia, Supervisor of Volunteer Services. “In 2018 we collected over 2,000 plush animals. Our annual Donate-a-Bear drive would not be as successful as it has been if it were not for the generous donations from our community.”
Thanks to the generosity of Camelot Moving and Storage, all of the plush animal friends will have a temporary place to be stored until they are needed by the Emergency Department.
Donations will be accepted at the Camelot truck located adjacent to the medical office building at 23929 McBean Parkway. Photo opportunities with the Pet Therapy dogs and giveaways will be available for those who participate and give back to the community.
Tracy Grant from REMAX Gateway and Augusta Financial will be onsite with their ice cream truck providing ice cream bars to those who bring bears or plush animal donations.
