The Master’s University women’s track & field program posted a handful of personal bests and NAIA national qualifying marks on the final day of the Bryan Clay Invitational.
In the women’s pole vault, Madison Cole cleared 2.72 meters on her first attempt, and 2.87 meters on her second attempt.
Rylee Bishop displayed a solid performance in the 800m and finished with an impressive time of 2:24.79.
Tess Thompson continued her outstanding campaign as the junior competed in both the 100m and the 200m. In the 100m, Thompson finished the race in 13.23, while teammate Emily Hess finished in 14.28. In the 200m, Thompson set a new lifetime best of 26.84.
Later in the day, Morgan Pedrick, Mikala Fairchild, and Rachael Ingoldsby represented TMU in the 1500m. Pedrick highlighted the Lady Mustangs’ performance as the senior’s outstanding efforts manifested in a final time of 4:35.57. Pedrick’s time met the NAIA’s “A” standard (4:36.50), qualifying her to compete in the 1500m at the 37th Annual NAIA Women’s Outdoor Track & Field National Championships from May 25-27, 2017 at the Mickey Miller Blackwell Stadium, Gulf Shores, Alabama. Pedrick has also qualified to compete in the women’s 4x800m relay alongside Ariana Sciarra, Bishop, and Fairchild.
“Morgan has gotten faster with each race this season,” commented TMU track & field head coach Zach Schroeder. “Everything is clicking and she’s ready to run big going into conference and nationals.”
Fairchild’s time of 4:39.85 in the 1500m met the NAIA’s “B” standard. Finally, Ingoldsby finished the event with a respectable time of 4:44.55.
From April 27-28, the Lady Mustangs, who recently ranked 21st in the nation by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA), will compete at the 2017 GSAC Track & Field Championships on the campus of Westmont College in Santa Barbara.
