The Cougars started off strong against Irvine Valley College on Wednesday in the COC women’s volleyball home opener. The Cougars took an early lead in the first set and never looked back, taking the set 24-18.
The second set was a close one, with the score tied late at 16-16. Then the Cougars gave up five quick scores and couldn’t rebound, losing to IVC in the second set 25-21.
Going into the third set, COC got off to a slow start, trailing 16-6. They couldn’t make up the margin, falling 25-14 to the Lasers.
The Cougars did not go down without a fight, though, keeping the score tied 6-6 in the fourth set. The Cougars tried to stay close and kept IVC honest, but in the end it wasn’t enough. COC lost the set 25-17, and the match, three games to one.
The Cougars next match will be at home Wednesday against El Camino.
