A local band played the 2017 Railfest in Fillmore last Saturday, bringing rock and roll, blues tunes, and Johnny Cash train songs to the festival.
Last Saturday at the 2017 Railfest in Fillmore, children young and old enjoyed rock and roll, blues tunes and Johnny Cash train songs from Santa Clarita local band Right Side Up. They kept the crowd clapping and dancing as they waited for rides on the vintage trains.
The two day festival was organized by the Santa Clara River Valley Railroad Historical Society and Fillmore & Western Railway Company. This year the festival rolled out something new but old too, caboose rides. The coveted spots in each “Crummy (railroad lingo for caboose) were seats in the cupola which were designed to provide a 360 degree view to the brakemen.
In addition to steam engine train rides, RailFest attendees could ride roundtrip from Fillmore to Santa Paula to view the beautiful agricultural landscape from the cabooses. The RailFest also featured displays of model trains, antique engines, gift and food booths.
