[LACo Child Support Services] – Individuals who are behind on their child support payments have a unique opportunity on Saturday, March 31, to take steps to resolve their outstanding obligations. The Los Angeles County Child Support Services Department (CSSD) will hold a special outreach event for parents in the gymnasium at East Rancho Dominguez Park, 15116 Atlantic Avenue in Compton from 9 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
This outreach event will be especially helpful for individuals who have suspended licenses due to their non-payment of child support. Individuals will be able to talk with staff from L.A. County Child Support Services to release their licenses by making a payment or working out a payment plan on their past due support. Individuals will be able to make payments by cash, check or credit card.
“We look forward to providing this special outreach in the community and working with individuals and community based organizations to improve the collection of child support which benefits families in our County,” said CSSD Deputy Director Lori Cruz. “We want to impress on individuals that we are here to discuss solutions.”
Many individuals face suspension of their driver’s license because of non-payment of support. This can become an obstacle for an individual looking for a job. CSSD and other child support agencies can release a suspended driver’s license if individuals agree to a payment plan. Community based organizations are invited to send clients to the March 31st outreach if they have child support payment issues that need to be brought current.
L.A. County Child Support Services provides free child support services including establishing and modifying orders for child support and health insurance, establishing paternity and enforcing child and spousal support obligations. Information about the services provided by L.A. County CSSD can be accessed at the Department’s website at http://cssd.lacounty.gov or calling 1-866-901-3212.
