The Master’s University men’s soccer program has signed Jonathan Lengkey, a 6-foot-6 center back from Germany, to its recruiting class for the 2019 season.
Lengkey won a state championship in Germany before playing his freshman season at Oakland City University in Indiana.
“Jonathan will be a nice addition to the program,” said TMU coach Jim Rickard. “He’s a transfer from an NCAA Division 2 school and is a tall, strong central defender. He chose Master’s due to the combination of spiritual and athletic opportunities.”
Lengkey said he was excited to combine faith, studies and soccer at Master’s.
“It has been a dream,” Lengkey said, “to play soccer in a Christian environment with teammates, coaches and staff since I was little.”
Lengkey played in five matches as a freshman at Oakland City University in 2018, scoring a goal on Sept. 1 against Welch College.
TMU men’s soccer finished 14-5 in 2018, reaching the Golden State Athletic Conference tournament semifinals.
Master’s finished one point shy of winning the GSAC regular-season title and earning the conference’s automatic bid to the NAIA round of 16.
