Agenda highlights include a possible move to join the efforts of State Attorney General Xavier Becerra by signing on as a plaintiff in his lawsuit opposing the addition of a citizenship question to the 2020 United States Census. (Item 13)

Supervisors may also approve 53 roadway pavement preservation, parkway concrete repair and guardrail replacement projects at an estimated aggregate amount not to exceed $70,915,000. (Item 38)

Supervisors Hahn and Barger direct the Chief Executive Officer and request the Sheriff to increase the reimbursement rate for nurses and doctors with advanced forensic training for all sexual assault forensic examinations of victims and suspects. (Item 3, Chief Executive Officer Report)

Supervisor Hahn authorizes the Chief Executive Officer to negotiate a non-exclusive, gratis license agreement with Supporting Arms for the proposed community-based farmers’ market at the Don Knabe Plaza at the Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center. (Item 4)

Supervisors Barger and Kuehl instruct the Executive Director of the Arts Commission to report back with a process, plan and budgetary needs for producing an updated County Regional Plan for Arts Education. (Item 8)

Supervisor Solis directs the purchase of the property located at 1060 North Vignes Street in the City of Los Angeles for $24,000,000. (Item 12)

Authorization sought by the Chief Executive Officer to execute a proposed amendment to a lease with Equitable Plaza, LLC extending the term for one year and reducing the existing office space for the Department of Public Social Services, with the maximum annual base rental total at $1,245,882. Authorization sought by the Chief Executive Officer to execute an amendment to an agreement with the Performing Arts Center of Los Angeles County for Grand Park maintenance, operating and programming services, to extend the agreement for one year. (Item 19)

Approval sought for the Deferred Maintenance Projects and the associated costs for an estimated total of $20,000,000. (Item 21)

Approval sought by the Department of Health Services for the Emergency Medical Services Agency’s Impact Evaluation Report, which concludes that the closure of the Community Medical Center Long Beach on or before July 3, 2018 will have a negative impact upon the community. (Item 28)

Approval sought for the proposed repair projects, Natural History Museum Repairs Project and Arboretum Repairs Project, with total project budgets of $8,933,000 and $3,533,000 respectively. (Item 33)

The Claims Board recommends a $985,000 settlement for a dangerous condition lawsuit arising from injuries sustained by a toddler when she stepped into a fire ring on Dockweiler Beach. (Item 48)

The Claims Board recommends a $300,000 settlement for a lawsuit alleging that an employee from the Department of Mental Health was subjected to racial discrimination, harassment and retaliation. (Item 49)
